The Student Union is the representative student body of the School. All registered students are members of the union by payment of an annual subscription which is to be paid directly to the SUB Account. Following a government policy, Student Unionism is voluntary, in effect; student may opt out of the Union.

The general function of the Union is to foster and manage the athletic, social and cultural interests of students, and provide the forum for any other activities of the Union. In accordance with existing Student Union contribution, the Union elects the following officers every session: President, Vice President, Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Treasurer, Public Relations Officer and Sport Secretary. The Union Constitution also provides for the office of a Head of School with supervisory powers over the management of the Union finances Before any distinguished person outside the School is invited by the Student Union or any group of students to participate in public lectures or other activities in the School, the organizers must first seek the approval of the Head of School. Any student who does not comply with this regulation shall be guilty of misconduct.

Any revision or amendment of the Student’s Union constitution ratified by the general body of students must be submitted to the School Management for approval before it becomes operative.

Once admitted, every student is entitled to participate in the student union politics after payments of all dues. Please note that the student union is not an independent body hence every action or inaction of the body, must conform to the school norms and tradition. Otherwise, the student union could be proscribed.

From time to time, students are advised to cross check with the Head of School for the list of Clubs and Societies approved to exist and operate within the school. Membership of such approved bodies shall be open to all bonafide students. Please note that, no club/society should operate without the school’s approval.



  1. i. The school, like the nation, frowns at the existence of secret societies/clubs or secret cults in the school.
  2. ii. It is also an offence for any student to be in possession of a gun, hand grenade, live ammunition or any other such dangerous weapons on the school premises. The penalty is immediate dismissal and prosecution.
  3. iii. Nocturnal/clandestine meetings are banned in the school



The school management gives active assistance and encouragement to all aspects of sports. Hence students are always advised to make effective use of their time in sporting activities among themselves and with sister institutions.

It has been observed that students, both male and female of this school have formed the habit of dressing indecently to lectures and places of practical attachment. Indecent dresses are either too tight or exposes sensitive parts of the body. Indecent mode of dressing do not in any way reflect good character of academic moulding, dignity and sound moral standards that constitute the ethics of the professional training environment. It is therefore important that every student should observe the school rules as it is applied to modes of dressing. As from the beginning of the session, students are to maintain a clean and cared for appearance within the school premises and while on clinical attachment. Wearing of tight, strapless and revealing cloths, or clothes whose lengths are above the knees are inappropriate and not allowed. It should be noted that Uniform should always be put on whenever students are within the school premises or in practical places/centres, In summary, students are not allowed to wear the following.

    • A. Students (Both Male and Female) are not allowed to wear the following:
      1. i. All tight fitting clothes including skirts, trousers and blouses.
      2. ii. All clothes which reveal sensitive parts of the body such as the bust, chest, belly, upper arms and the buttocks e.g. transparent clothes, spaghetti tops, wicked straps, mono straps, ‘tubes’ and ‘show your belly’, skins and dresses with slits above the knees fall into this category.
      3. iii. Outfits such as knickers and miniskirts and dresses which are not at least, knee-length.
      4. iv. Inappropriate outfits’ e.g. party wear, beachwear and bathroom slippers should not be worn to lectures.
      5. v. Outfits such as T-shirts, shirts and jeans which carry obscene and subliminal messages.


  • B. Matriculation and Graduation Ceremonies. During matriculation and graduation ceremonies students are expected to dress formally and wear academic gowns.

The following are some of the disciplinary sanctions which may be imposed for violation of school regulations:


Disciplinary probation is a trial for a specified period of time during which a student must behave in a manner acceptable to the School. The Disciplinary Committee may impose terms which will restrict the student’s participation in extra curricula and or other activities.



Suspension is an action which action excludes the student from registration, class attendance, and the use of school facilities for a specified period of time. This means that the student must immediately leave the School and shall not return until the suspension period is over.



Expulsion is the permanent withdrawal by the Head of School of the privilege of registration, class attendance, etc. the privilege of the use of school facilities is also withdrawn by this action. This means that the student must leave the School immediately and permanently.



Loss of privilege is the withdrawal of a privilege or use of a service or facility (such as library, etc) for a specified period of time.



Reimbursement requires that a Student must pay for damages to, loss or misappropriation of School property. Such reimbursement is charged to any student who alone, or through group concerted activities, organizes or knowingly participates in the events which cause the damages or loss.


C. Exclusion of students from lectures and social services:-

  • i. Lecturers and other designated officers are empowered to exclude students from lectures and official business when they are not properly dressed.
  • ii. Outright dismissal from school should any student be found of non-compliance after series of warning.

A student (female/male) who is being harassed by any lecturer in the school in exchange for marks has the right to report such a person to the school’s administrator who will in turn inform the disciplinary committee to set up a panel of enquiry to look into it and the report will be forwarded to the Hospital Management. Sexual harassment of lecturers will be treated equally.



Any student who feels unduly dealt with can seek redress from the school by writing a letter of complaint to the school administration, meanwhile the letter should be strictly formal and not abusive or insultive as this will prevent the letter from been treated.



The school has some officers who are in charge of the day to day running of the school but they are under the supervision of the Chief Medical Director (CMD), Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC) and the Director of Administration (DA) who are the ones hereby referred to as the School Management.
